O dia comecou com um grupo E tudo empatado em pontos que acabou exatamente da mesma forma. Empate a 1 uma bola entre Eslováquia e Roménia e a zeros entre Bélgica e Ucrania, valendo o primeiro lugar aos romenos e o quarto aos ucranianos que apesar de fazerem 4 pontos ficaram automaticamente eliminados devido à diferenca de golos. Apenas um bitaiteiro adivinhou a Roménia em 1 lugar e igualmente a classificacao do grupo na ordem correta, sendo que o destaque vai para Miguel Anjos por ter logrado tal feito.

No outro grupo, emocao até ao fim, principalmente no República Checa-Turquia. Os checos precisavam de uma vitória para eliminar os turcos, enquanto a Geórgia ia causando surpresa a ganhar a Portugal. Pedro Ferro acabou por sorrir ao ser o único a adivinhar a vitória georgiana mas quem sorriu ainda mais foi José Salvado. O golo turco aos 90+4 desempatou o primeiro lugar da fase de grupos com Mario Miranda e deu-lhe o primeiro lugar isolado. Apenas 12 adivinharam a ordem correta do grupo, mas só 6 adivinharam a passam da Geórgia à próxima fase!

The day started with a group where everything was tied in points and ended exactly the same way. A 1-1 draw between Slovakia and Romania and a 0-0 draw between Belgium and Ukraine resulted in the Romanians securing first place and the Ukrainians ending in fourth place. Despite earning 4 points, Ukraine was automatically eliminated due to goal difference. Only one predictor guessed Romania in first place and the group standings in the correct order. Special recognition goes to Miguel Anjos for achieving this feat.

In the other group, there was excitement until the end, especially in the Czech Republic-Turkey match. The Czechs needed a win to eliminate the Turks, while Georgia was surprising everyone by beating Portugal. Pedro Ferro ended up smiling as he was the only one to predict the Georgian victory, but José Salvado smiled even more. A Turkish goal in the 90+4th minute broke the tie for first place in the group stage with Mario Miranda and gave him the top spot. Only 12 predicted the correct order of the group, but just 6 of those predicted that Georgia would advance to the next stage!

Golden Bet: Pedro Ferro and António Pedro, 13 points out of 20 possible, allowing them to hope for a final phase that propels them to the top spots.

Na verdade, fazia falta um dia assim. Tudo em aberto no que tocava ao Grupo D e eis que surpresas aconteceram. Num jogo muito bem conseguido, os austríacos estiveram em vantagem por duas vezes e deixaram-se empatar, mas o último golo de Sabitzer já foi sem resposta e carimbaram assim a passagem aos oitavos. A maior surpresa estava guardada para o outro jogo em que a Franca nao foi eficaz e desperdicou o primeiro lugar, caindo no lado mais forte do acesso à final. Posto isto, ninguém adivinhou a Áustria em 1 lugar, mas 7 de vós adivinharam o segundo lugar frances (tendo colocado os Países Baixos em 1). Houve ainda 10 de vós a adivinhar o terceiro lugar dos Países Baixos, mas apenas 8 a lograrem a passagem aos oitavos a partir desse mesmo posto.

No outro grupo a Inglaterra voltou a desiludir. Sem realmente testar Oblak, valeu o empate também 0-0 no outro jogo do grupo para conseguir fechar o grupo em primeiro lugar e garantir o lado mais acessível do acesso à final. Contudo, se a qualidade de jogo nao subir, nao vai ser propriamente tarefa fácil. Aqui já houve mais acertos, com 104 a adivinharem a Inglaterra em 1 lugar e 82 com Inglaterra em 1 e Dinamarca em 2. Apenas 20 conseguiram a ordem correta do grupo, sendo que apenas 14 lograram a passagem da Eslovénia aos oitavos no terceiro posto.

Actually, a day like this was needed. Everything was open in Group D, and then surprises happened. In a very well-played game, the Austrians were ahead twice and allowed the tie, but Sabitzer's last goal went unanswered and thus sealed their passage to the round of 16. The biggest surprise was reserved for the other game, where France was not effective and squandered first place, falling into the stronger side of the bracket for the final. That said, no one guessed Austria in first place, but seven of you guessed France in second place (having placed the Netherlands in first). Ten of you also guessed the Netherlands in third place, but only eight managed to predict their passage to the round of 16 from that position.

In the other group, England disappointed again. Without really testing Oblak, the 0-0 draw in the other group game was enough to close the group in first place and secure the easier side of the bracket for the final. However, if the quality of play doesn't improve, it won't be an easy task. There were more correct predictions here, with 104 guessing England in first place and 82 with England in first and Denmark in second. Quando tudo parecia encaminhado para a Croácia passar à próxima fase, eis que a Itália sacou um coelho da cartola e conseguiu um empate que os coloca diretamente na próxima fase e marca o encontro com a Suica. Um jogo que 32 bitaiteiros acertaram em cheio! No outro encontro a Espanha cumpriu e confirmou ainda mais o 1 lugar do grupo, aguardando agora por um dos melhores terceiros lugares. De salientar que a ordem correta do grupo foi adivinhada por 46 de vós. Contudo, a Croácia foi colocada como terceiro lugar 58 vezes e só numa delas nao lograria a passagem aos oitavos. Ao que tudo indica (muito dificilmente matematicamente) a Croácia está eliminada e só 4 de vós colocaram esse cenário.

When everything seemed set for Croatia to advance to the next stage, Italy pulled a rabbit out of the hat and managed to secure a draw that puts them directly into the next phase and sets up a meeting with Switzerland. A game in which 32 of you got it spot on! In the other match, Spain delivered and further confirmed their top spot in the group, now waiting for one of the best third-placed teams. It is worth noting that the correct order of the group was guessed by 46 of you. However, Croatia was placed in third position 58 times and in only one of those scenarios would they fail to advance to the round of 16. As it stands (although mathematically is still possible but very unlikely), Croatia is eliminated, and only 4 of you predicted this outcome.

Já no prolongamento a Hungria levou de vencida a Escócia num final dramático e deu um passo em frente rumo aos oitavos, esperando agora os resultados dos outros grupos para confirmar a passagem. Perhaps the most "unfair" day so far. The first day of final decisions in the groups started only for Group A, and Switzerland once again showed that they are a very tough nut to crack. Demonstrating exemplary defensive cohesion (led by a great goalkeeper) and betting on fast counter-attacks with arrows pointed at the opponent's goal, Switzerland was close to pulling off a surprise and finishing the group in 1st place, but a late goal from Fulkrug settled the group standings for the top two spots. In extra time, Hungary defeated Scotland in a dramatic ending and took a step forward towards the round of 16, now waiting for the results of the other groups to confirm their qualification. Stoppage time led to many point changes, especially in the Scotland-Hungary game but also in the group standings. Thirty-six of you got the correct order of the group, and another 26 only missed the order of Hungary and Scotland (which means they didn't put Hungary passing).

Entrevista com o líder após a 2 Jornada/Interview with the leader after round 2

A segunda jornada fechou e temos um novo líder dos Bitaites. Um espanhol que torce por Portugal, maior fa do Joselu, adepto da Académica e do Real Madrid e que já foi entrevistado para a Rádio Observador por se chamar Pepe, tal como o central da selecao das quinas. Deixo-vos uma pequena entrevista com o próprio:

Reporter: Líder isolado dos Bitaites ao final da segunda jornada da fase de grupos. Explica-me como te sentes. Já sonhas com a vitoria ou ainda tens os pés bem assentes na terra e sabes que isto pode virar a qualquer momento?

Jose: A sensação é muito boa! Mas para já mantemos os pés bem assentes no chão. O pelotão vem forte e a margem é curta. A terceira jornada da fase de grupos vem sempre carregada de surpresas e pode influenciar muitos pontos nos bitaites da fase a eliminar! 

R: Tens tido bastante consistência desde que assumiste a liderança. Sentes que podes continuar este caminho e liderar no final da fase grupos?

J: Estou confiante nos meus bitaites para a terceira jornada, mas com medo de potenciais surpresas nos confrontos dos grupos B, D e E. Não mudava a previsão de empate para o Itália-Croácia. A previsão de vitória para a França também me parece bem ajustada, dada a importância política de uma vitória que assegure a continuidade dos bleus. O grupo E é uma dor de cabeça, com o meu bitaite de empate para as duas partidas e as 4 equipas igualadas a 3 pontos. 

R: ⁠Colocaste Portugal como vencedor contra a França na final. Sentes que o teu Bitaite ainda é bastante válido ou alterarias alguma coisa?

J: Mantenho Portugal como favorito, mas com reservas quanto a um provável embate contra Espanha nas meias-finais. Muito boas sensações de La Roja nestes dois primeiros jogos. Seria interessante se o Martinez pegasse no Leão e lhe mostrasse uns vídeos do Nico Williams. Precisamos dessa garra para dar mais uma dose de Éder aos Franceses!

R: Por último, fala-me um pouco do que te surpreendeu até aqui em termos de seleções e também desilusões que tenhas tido durante o Europeu.

J: Inglaterra muito fraquinha para quem vinha com o saco cheio de favoritismo. Bélgica no mesmo barco, movido a motor Romeno. Muito surpreendido pela seleção espanhola, após o banho de bola à Itália. Cucurella em modo Roberto Carlos, mas com um bocadinho mais de cabelo. E finalmente a grande derrota das primeiras duas jornadas do Euro: a filosofia de Pep Guardiola. Já vale bujas de fora da área e finalmente podemos assistir a jogos depois de almoçar sem sucumbir a uma siesta guardiolista!

The second round of the group phase has come to an end, and we have a new leader in the Bitaites. A Spaniard who cheers for Portugal, biggest fan of Joselu, supports Académica and Real Madrid, and has been interviewed by Rádio Observador because his name is Pepe, just like the center-back of the Portuguese national team. Here’s a brief interview with him:

Reporter: You are the sole leader of the Bitaites at the end of the second round of the group stage. Tell me how you feel. Are you already dreaming of victory, or are you still holding expectations and aware that this can turn at any moment?

Jose: The feeling is very good! But for now, we remain firmly with low expectations. The pack is strong, and the margin is short. The third round of the group stage is always full of surprises and can influence many points in the knockout stage!

R: You have been quite consistent since you took the lead. Do you feel you can continue this path and lead at the end of the group stage?

J: I am confident in my predictions for the third round, but wary of potential surprises in the matches of groups B, D, and E. I wouldn't change my prediction of a draw for the Italy-Croatia game. The prediction of a win for France also seems well-adjusted, given the political importance of a victory that ensures the continuity of the Bleus. Group E is a headache, with my prediction of a draw for both matches and all 4 teams tied at 3 points.

R: You placed Portugal as the winner against France in the final. Do you still feel your prediction is valid, or would you change anything?

J: I still see Portugal as the favorite, but with reservations about a likely clash against Spain in the semi-finals. Very good feelings about La Roja in these first two games. It would be interesting if Martinez takes Leão and shows him some videos of Nico Williams. We need that spirit to give the French another dose of Éder!

R: Lastly, tell me a bit about what has surprised you so far in terms of teams and also any disappointments you’ve had during the Euro.

J: England has been very weak for a team that came in full of favouritism. Belgium is in the same boat, powered by a Romanian engine. Very surprised by the Spanish team after their football lesson to Italy. Cucurella is in Roberto Carlos mode, but with a bit more hair. And finally, the biggest defeat of the first two rounds of the Euro: Pep Guardiola's philosophy. Long shots are now valid, and we can finally watch games after lunch without succumbing to a Guardiola siesta!

Chegou ao fim a segunda jornada da fase de grupos. No primeiro jogo do dia tanto a Geórgia como a República Checa nao foram além de 1-1, somando os primeiros pontos do Euro e transitando expetativas para uma última jornada que se preve difícil para ambas. Portugal venceu e convenceu por 3-0, garantindo igualmente o 1 lugar do grupo. Por último, a Bélgica vingou a derrota da primeira jornada e colocou todas as equipas do seu grupo com 3 pontos para a última jornada. Derradeiros dois jogos que se antevem bastante emocionantes, até porque terao bastante importancia no desfecho da classficacao do grupo!

The day began with yet another surprise, this time with Croatia now seeing their chances of progressing significantly complicated. After starting the match almost immediately on the back foot, they managed to come back in 2 minutes only to concede again in stoppage time. Entrevista com o líder após a 1 Jornada/Interview with the leader after round 1

Com o final da jornada 1 temos o primeiro verdadeiro líder dos Bitaites. Hugo Caseira de seu nome, um verdadeiro apaixonado do futebol. Deixo-vos uma pequena entrevista com o próprio:

Reporter: Problemas técnicos, ficheiros errados, resultados em falta. Houve de tudo na tua inscrição e aqui estamos ao final da 1 jornada em na liderança dos Bitaites. Qual foi o segredo da preparação para chegares aqui?

Hugo: Verdade. Deixei tudo para a noite de véspera do arranque do Euro. E por isso é que me troquei todo. Confesso que li a entrevista ao vencedor da última edição dos Bitaites e fixei a parte do "não pensar muito e apostar na primeira coisa que vem à cabeça". Depois há uma história que aproveito para partilhar sobre a minha capacidade enquanto visionário. Em maio de 2016, na sequência da convocatória para o Euro, em que havia a polémica de se ter convocado Éder em detrimento de André Silva, referi no meu núcleo de amigos mais próximos que não só iríamos ser campeões europeus, como seria com um golo do Éder. 

R: ⁠Estás na liderança e partes na pole position para o que resta dos grupos. Quais são as tuas expectativas a partir daqui?

H: Acredito que, na sequência da resposta anterior, agora é sempre a descer. Atingi o meu momento de glória. 

R: Do que viste do Euro quais foram até agora as tuas seleções favoritas e aquelas que te desapontaram?

H: Confesso que o jogo de Portugal foi o único que tive oportunidade de ver por completo. Acho que não houve nenhuma Seleção que se tenha destacado. E ainda é prematuro avaliar. A Alemanha entrou bem e com goleada, ainda que as circunstâncias do jogo ajudaram a isso. Acho que lhe fez bem o fim do reinado do Joachim Low.  Gostei a espaços da Inglaterra (foi o único jogo que ainda consegui ver um pouco). A Bélgica e Croácia desiludiram pelos resultados obtidos, mas creio que o nível exibicional não fez jus. Veremos como irão reagir a esta má entrada.

R: Por último, o que esperas da prestação portuguesa?

H: Eu sofro muito com a Seleção. Admito-o. E estou sempre à espera do pior cenário. Talvez seja uma forma de me defender, para melhor ultrapassar o momento de desilusão. Conforme os meus bitaites, creio que não iremos além dos quartos de final. Temos um excelente conjunto de jogadores, mas tardamos em conseguir fazer um bom colectivo. Não tenho confiança em Roberto Martinez para que saiba colocar as peças certas nos lugares certos.

Reporter: Technical problems, wrong files, missing results. You had it all during your registration, and here we are at the end of the first round with you leading the Bitaites. What was the secret to your preparation to get here?

Hugo: It's true. I left everything for the night before the Euro started. And that's why I got all mixed up. I confess that I read the interview with the winner of the last Bitaites edition and remembered the part about "not thinking too much and betting on the first thing that comes to mind". Then there's a story I'd like to share about my abilities as a visionary. In May 2016, following the call-up for the Euro, when there was controversy about Éder being called up instead of André Silva, I told my close friends that not only would we be European champions, but it would be with a goal from Éder.

R: You're in the lead and in pole position for the rest of the group stage. What are your expectations from here on out?

H: I believe that, following my previous answer, it's all downhill from here. I've reached my moment of glory.

R: From what you've seen of the Euro, which teams have been your favorites so far and which ones have disappointed you?

H: I confess that the Portugal game was the only one I had the chance to watch in full. I don't think any team has stood out yet. It's still too early to judge. Germany started well with a big win, although the circumstances of the game helped. I think the end of Joachim Low's reign did them good. I liked England in parts (it was the only other game I managed to catch a bit of). Belgium and Croatia disappointed with their results, but I think their performances were better than what the result showed. We'll see how they respond to this poor start.

R: Finally, what do you expect for Portugal?

H: I suffer a lot with the national team. I admit it. And I'm always expecting the worst-case scenario. Maybe it's a way to protect myself, to better overcome moments of disappointment. As per my predictions, I don't think we'll go beyond the quarterfinals. We have an excellent group of players, but we struggle to form a good team. I don't have confidence in Roberto Martinez to put the right pieces in the right places.

Finalmente um dia atípico e com muitas surpresas. Uma surpresa que apenas 6 de vós foram capazes de prever. Mas a maior surpresa do dia estava guardada para o jogo da Bélgica em que a sorte sorriu à Eslováquia e com a ajuda de um desinspirado Lukaku, bateram os belgas por 1-0. Despite being the game of the day with the "lightest" favourite, Romania exceeded expectations and, after failing to win against Liechtenstein in friendlies, they clearly overcame Ukraine with 3 goals with no answer. Day 3 started with one of the favourites winning, in a victory that was expected to be easier than it actually was. Great football game, fast-paced with chances on both sides, but the men from the Netherlands were stronger and gave 5 points to 22 predictors. Next was Slovenia-Denmark, where despite the Danes being favourites, Slovenia surprised and could have even won. The final 1-1 result ended up smiling for 15 of you who got the score right. Finally, England did not disappoint and their defensive consistency earned them their first 3 points of the European Championship, despite the game being somewhat dull and slow. The Serbs tried but never really tested Pickford. The 1-0 score smiled on only 6 predictions, but England's victory ended up giving a lot of 3 and 4 points.

No primeiro jogo o empate foi o mais projectado mas a Suica nao deu hipóteses à Hungria e conquistou os primeiros tres pontos do Europeu. A Espanha foi fria e eficaz e levou de vencida a Croácia. De um lado a eficácia, do outro lado muitas oportunidades perdidas e se nao houve Unai Simon havia defesas a tirar golos certos (sendo que nem de penalty a bola entrou). Por último, a Itália assumiu o favoritismo e levou de vencida a Albania, embora tenha apanhado um susto inicial e final, com Donnaruma a evitar o empate.

O primeiro com um resultado certo (quase dois), uma tendencia com golos certos numa equipa e outra tendecia, enquanto o segundo somou 4 pontos em todos os jogos. Sales junta os 12 pontos aos 4 de ontem e assume a lideranca ao segundo dia.

Bitaite de Lata: Rui Santos, Tiago Baptista e Luis Andrade. 0 pontos num dia em que muita gente pontuou bem, pelo que ficam já na cauda do pelotao com apenas dois dias.

Algumas curiosidades para o dia 3:
- Holanda é clara favorita nos prognósticos, apenas uma aposta na vitória da Polónia.
- Exatamente o mesmo cenário para a Inglaterra e também apenas um bitaite na vitória da Sérvia.

Second day that already brought some changes to the leaderboard. In the first game, a draw was the most expected outcome, but Switzerland gave Hungary no chance and secured the first three points of the European Championship. Spain was cold and efficient, defeating Croatia. On one side, there was efficiency, and on the other, many missed opportunities, and if it weren't for Unai Simon, there were defenders stopping certain goals (even a penalty didn't go in). Finally, Italy took on the favouritism and defeated Albania, although they got scared at the beginning and the end, with Donnarumma preventing the draw.

Gold Bitaite: Filipe Sales and Diogo Rino, the top scorers of the second day with 12 points out of 15 possible. The first with one correct result (almost two), a trend with correct goals for one team and another trend, while the second scored 4 points in all games. Sales adds the 12 points to the 4 from yesterday and takes the lead on the second day.

Garbage Bitaite: Rui Santos, Tiago Baptista, and Luis Andrade. 0 points on a day when many people scored well, so they are already at the back of the pack after just two days.

Some curiosities for day 3:
- The Netherlands is the clear favorite in the predictions, with only one bet on Poland's victory.
- Exactly the same scenario for England, with only one bet on Serbia's victory.

Francisco Sarmento - Entrevista/Interview último classificado Mundial 18 & Euro 20/last place World Cup 18 & Euro 20

Hoje deixo-vos com uma bonita entrevista com o último classificado dos Bitaites do Mundial 2018 e Euro 2020. Sim, ele conseguiu essa proeza.

Repórter: Francisco, conseguiste um feito inigualável que é seres o atual bicampeão do último lugar (Mundial 18 e Euro 2020). Se do primeiro lugar já seria extremamente complicado, explica-nos o segredo para reaveres sempre o buy-in de forma segura?

Francisco: Um mágico nunca revela os seus segredos, ainda assim, diria num tom mais sério que o formato do excel castiga bastante quem errar os primeiros e segundos lugares dos grupos pelo que tive algumas “fezadas” que acabaram por não bater.

R: Os teus amigos e familiares já não devem ter qualquer expectativa sobre ti. De facto é muito difícil fazer pior do que fizeste. Posto isto, como os esperas surpreender?

F: É interessante perguntares isso, apesar de ter este record caricato, estive também muito perto de vencer uma das edições, só não o tendo conseguido por ter errado o vencedor do torneio, caso contrário teria ganho. Por isso fica claro que estive a afinar estratégias e este ano, com uma abordagem mais analítica, espero ficar entre os primeiros!

R: Quais são as tuas expectativas para este Euro, que seleções achas que vão brilhar e ser surpresas e quem achas que vai desapontar?

F: Apesar de querer muito estar enganado acho que Portugal pode ser uma das desilusões do torneio, enquanto que a Alemanha acredito poder vir a ser a grande equipa do torneio, estão individualmente em grande forma, jogam em casa e têm uma equipa recheada de craques.

R: Como achas que vai ser o percurso da seleção portuguesa? Estás contente com os convocados ou achas que há algumas coisas que alteravas?

F: Já tendo respondido acima, o que me preocupa na nossa seleção foram as escolhas dos jogadores. Acho que o Martinez não conseguiu convocar os jogadores em melhor momento e acabou por optar por muitos outros que regressam de lesões (Pedro Neto) ou tiveram um ano de altos e baixos (nuno mendes) atuam em campeonatos pouco competitivos (Ruben Neves) ou até uma segunda volta dos respetivos campeonatos menos bem conseguida (Diogo Costa, Pepe). A meu ver, os grupos precisam de alguma irreverência fruto de dois ou ter jogadores menos consagrados mas que, por estarem em grande forma, acrescentem muito valor (como por exemplo o Renato Sanches no euro 2016). Com base nisto eu tentaria aproveitar o momento de forma dos jogadores do Sporting, Manchester City etc. Teria convocado o Matheus Nunes pelo perfil diferenciado que tem, para o lugar do Ruben Neves, o Pedro Goncalves para o lugar do Otávio, o Trincao para o lugar do Pedro Neto pela diferença de forma absurda em que se encontram. Um esteve lesionado nos ultimos dois meses e o outro foi o melhor jogador da segunda volta em portugal e por último, mais polémico, convocaria o Nuno Santos para banco do lado esquerdo em vez do Nelson Semedo. Na minha opinião é muito mais preferível jogar com Nuno Santos à esquerda (em caso de potencial lesão do Nuno Mendes) e Cancelo à direita, do que jogar com Cancelo adaptado à esquerda e Nelson Semedo à direita. Se me permites acho também que temos uma seleção com grande potencial para jogar em 3-5-2 desde os laterais cavalos que temos (Mendes e Cancelo), aos médios capazes de operar num meio campo a dois (Palhinha, Nunes, Neves) aos avançados que jogam muito bem em jogo interior (Bruno e Bernardo).

Today I leave you with a lovely interview with the last place finisher of the 2018 World Cup and Euro 2020 Bitaites. Yes, he managed this feat.

Reporter: Francisco, you achieved an unparalleled feat of being the current two-time champion of last place (World Cup '18 and Euro 2020). If the first place would be extremely difficult, explain to us the secret to always safely reclaiming the buy-in?

Francisco: A magician never reveals his secrets, yet I would say in a more serious tone that the Excel format heavily penalizes those who get the first and second places of the groups wrong, so I had some "hunches" that ended up not hitting.

R: Your friends and family must no longer have any expectations of you. In fact, it is very difficult to do worse than you did. That said, how do you expect to surprise them?

F: It's interesting you ask that. Despite having this quirky record, I was also very close to winning one of the editions, only missing out because I got the tournament winner wrong. Otherwise, I would have won. So, it’s clear that I’ve been fine-tuning my strategies and this year, with a more analytical approach, I hope to be among the top!

R: What are your expectations for this Euro? Which teams do you think will shine and be surprises, and who do you think will disappoint?

F: Although I really hope I'm wrong, I think Portugal could be one of the tournament's disappointments, while I believe Germany could be the great team of the tournament. They are individually in great shape, play at home, and have a team full of stars.

R: How do you think the Portuguese national team's journey will be? Are you happy with the squad, or do you think there are some things you would change?

F: As I mentioned earlier, what worries me about our national team were the player selections. I think Martinez couldn't call up the players in the best form and ended up opting for many others who are coming back from injuries (Pedro Neto) or had a year of ups and downs (Nuno Mendes), play in less competitive leagues (Ruben Neves), or had a less successful second half of their respective seasons (Diogo Costa, Pepe). In my view, the groups need some irreverence, thanks to two or three less well-known players who, because they are in great form, add a lot of value (like Renato Sanches in Euro 2016). Based on this, I would try to take advantage of the form of players from Sporting, Manchester City, etc. I would have called up Matheus Nunes for his different profile, instead of Ruben Neves, Pedro Goncalves instead of Otávio, and Trincão instead of Pedro Neto due to the huge difference in their current form. One was injured for the last two months and the other was the best player of the second half in Portugal. Lastly, more controversially, I would call up Nuno Santos as a backup for the left side instead of Nelson Semedo. In my opinion, it’s much better to play with Nuno Santos on the left (in case of a potential injury to Nuno Mendes) and Cancelo on the right than to play with Cancelo adapted to the left and Nelson Semedo on the right. If I may, I also think we have a team with great potential to play in a 3-5-2 formation, from the strong full-backs we have (Mendes and Cancelo) to the midfielders capable of operating in a two-man midfield (Palhinha, Nunes, Neves) to the forwards who play very well in an interior game (Bruno and Bernardo).

Em relacao ao dia 1 do Euro, sem grandes surpresas a Alemanha bateu a Escócia por 5-1. Contudo, ninguém acertou no resultado, pelo que ninguém somou 5 pontos. Houve ainda um bitaiteiro (Francisco Brito) que previu uma surpresa na abertura (1-1) e por isso mesmo acaba o primeiro dia sem pontos.

Em relacao ao segundo dia, algumas curiosidades:

- Muitos palpites no empate, principalmente 1-1. Contudo, Suica favorita no caso de haver vencedor.

- Espanha-Croácia está bastante dividido nos palpites, claro jogo de 1X2.

- Itália clara favorita.

In the meanwhile I will make a post with the prize structure.

Regarding the first day, without any surprises Germany smashed Scotland by 5-1. Although, we didn't have any exact score and consequently nobody got 5 points. There was also one participant that predicted a surprise in the first game (1-1) and therefore ends up the first day with no points.

Considering the second day, some curiosities:

- A lot of predictions for a draw, mainly 1-1. Although if there is a winner, Switzerland is the favourite.

- Spain-Croatia is a clear game of 1X2, with a lot of different predicted results.

- Italy is the favourite against Albania by far!

Entrevista Vencedor Bitaites Euro 2020 - Tomás Peixe

Enquanto o Euro não arranca, deixo-vos a primeira entrevista com bitaiteiros que tiveram sucesso nas edições anteriores. Hoje o entrevistado é Tomás Peixe, o grande vencedor dos Bitaites do Euro 2020 que consumou a sua vitória contra um italiano (Matteo Rossi) através da vitória de Itália na final. 

Reporter: Tomás foste o grande vencedor do Euro 2020(1). Todos querem saber a estratégia que te levou à vitória. Por isso a pergunta que se impõe é: copiaste pelo Gonçalo ou pelo Ricardo? 

Tomás: O truque é não pensar muito nem fazer grandes pesquisas. Recomendo que não se demore mais do que 5 minutos a fazer o ficheiro. Com as anteriores prestações do Gonçalo é possível comprovar que quanto mais tempo se analisam as seleções piores as prestações. 

R: Com certeza que o título te levou a ser o orgulho do pai. Continua a haver quezílias entre vocês por seres o preferido ou já ultrapassaram isso e conseguem estar juntos à mesa? 

T: O título trouxe muita alegria para a família, mas não há rivalidades. Todos nos apoiamos mutuamente e conseguimos estar juntos à mesa, celebrando cada conquista como uma vitória de todos.

R: Sem desvendar muito dos teus prognósticos para este Euro, vês alguma seleção como favorita clara, achas que vai ser uma das seleções fortes a ganhar ou estás mais inclinado para uma surpresa

T: A grande surpresa deste Europeu será que pela primeira vamos assistir a uma reedição de uma final. 

R: Por último, que seleção achas que vai ser uma tremenda desilusão e quem achas que vai brilhar como fez a Dinamarca em 2020 ou Gales em 2016? 

T: Uma aposta segura para desilusão deste Europeu é a Inglaterra que aparece como favorita nas casas de apostas e não passará dos quartos de final.

While the Euro doesn't start I leave you with the first interview with previous years' successful participants. Today's interview is with Tomás Peixe, the winner of Bitaites do Euro 2020 that managed to grab the win in the final against an italian (Matteo Rossi) by betting in Italy to win the tournament.
 
Reporter: Tomás, you were the big winner of Euro 2020(1). Everyone wants to know the strategy that led you to victory. So the question that arises is: did you copy from Gonçalo or Ricardo?
Tomás: The trick is not to think too much or do too much research. I recommend that you don't take more than 5 minutes to create the file. With Gonçalo's previous performances, it is possible to prove that the longer the selections are analysed, the worse the performances.
R: The title certainly made you your father's proud. Are there still arguments between you because you are the favourite son, or have all of you overcome that and are able to be together at the table?
T: The title brought a lot of joy to the family, but there are no rivalries. We all support each other and are able to be together at the table, celebrating each achievement as a victory for everyone.
R: Without revealing too much of your predictions for this Euro, do you see any team as a clear favourite, do you think it will be one of the strong teams to win or are you more inclined towards a surprise?
T: The big surprise of this European Championship will be that for the first time we will see a repeat of a final.
R: Finally, which team do you think will be a huge disappointment and who do you think will shine like Denmark did in 2020 or Wales in 2016?
T: A safe bet for disappointment in this European Championship is England, which appears as the favorite in the bookmakers and will not make it past the quarter-finals.
