As meias-finais bastante aguardadas trouxeram um Espanha-Franca para comecar, com a Franca a adiantar-se no marcador, no primeiro golo frances do Euro. Mas o melhor estava para vir com Yamal a sacar de um coelho da cartola e Dani Olmo a completar a reviravolta pouco tempo depois. O resultado nao se alterou e a Espanha carimbou a passagem à final. Na outra partida o cenário foi bastante identico, com os Países Baixos a adiantarem-se cedo através de um golo de Xavi Simmons. A Inglaterra nao demorou a chegar ao empate através de uma grande penalidade e quando já todos aguardavam o prolongamento, num excelente trabalho de ponta-de-lanca, Ollie Watkins colocou os ingleses na final com a Espanha. Um cenário que traria uma disputa acesa pelo títulos dos Bitaites entre Pedro Matos e Jeremy Ferre.

Na final a primeira parte foi equilibrada com um sinal mais espanhol que acabou por consumar o golo inagural pouco depois do comeco da segunda parte. A Inglaterra tentou responder e através do banco conseguiu o empate num belo golo de Cole Palmer. Contudo, desta vez foi a fava a sair aos ingleses e já perto do cair do pano, Oyarzabal deu o título aos espanhóis e coroou Pedro Matos como o grande vencedor!

The eagerly awaited semi-finals began with a Spain-France matchup, with France taking the lead with their first goal of the Euro. But the best was yet to come as Yamal pulled a rabbit out of the hat and Dani Olmo completed the comeback shortly after. The result did not change, and Spain secured their place in the final. In the other match, the scenario was quite similar, with the Netherlands taking an early lead through a Xavi Simmons goal. England quickly equalized with a penalty, and just as everyone was expecting extra time, Ollie Watkins, with excellent striker work, put England in the final against Spain. This set the stage for a heated contest for the Bitaites title between Pedro Matos and Jeremy Ferre.

In the final, the first half was balanced, with a slight edge for Spain, who eventually scored the opening goal shortly after the start of the second half. England tried to respond and managed to equalize with a beautiful goal from Cole Palmer off the bench. However, this time luck was not on England's side, and just before the final whistle, Oyarzabal gave the title to Spain and crowned Pedro Matos as the great winner!

Um dos jogos mais aguardados dos quartos-de-final foi logo o primeiro, em jeito de final antecipada tendo em conta a performance de ambas as equipas até aqui. A Espanha acabaria por vergar a Alemanha já no prolongamento e deitou por terra a aspiracao de 16 de vós que colocaram a Alemanha campea mas também a de José Monteiro que esteve na lideranca mas já nao vai conseguir sair vencedor com este desfecho. Seguiu-se o jogo entre as duas selecoes com mais bitaites para vencedor, o qual acabou por se decidir através da marca de grandes penalidades. Pedro Matos sorriu com este desfecho que assim toma de assalto a lideranca a tem apenas um cenário em que nao conseguirá sagrar-se campeao dos Bitaites! No dia seguinte a Inglaterra voltou a ter bastante sorte e apesar de estar em desvantagem mais uma vez na partida, acabaria por carimbar as meias-finais nas grandes penalidades. Por fim, os Países Baixos nao se deixaram surpreender como a Áustria e apesar de mais um golo de um defesa central, a Turquia nao conseguiu segurar a vantagem desta feita e permitiu dois golos sem resposta já perto do fim. Este dia sorriu para Jeremy Ferre que continua a suspirar pela vitória final, a qual conseguirá se a Inglaterra se sagrar campea, o único cenário negativo para Pedro Matos!

One of the most anticipated quarter-final matches was the first one, which felt like an early final given the performance of both teams so far. Spain ended up defeating Germany in overtime, dashing the hopes of 16 of you who had predicted Germany as the champion, as well as José Monteiro, who had been in the lead but will no longer be able to win with this outcome. The next game was between the two teams with the most predictions for the winner, which ended up being decided by a penalty shootout. Pedro Matos smiled with this result, as he took the lead and has only one scenario in which he won't be crowned the Bitaites champion! The following day, England was once again quite lucky and, despite being at a disadvantage once more in the match, managed to secure a semi-final spot through penalties. Finally, the Netherlands were not surprised like Austria, and despite another goal from a central defender, Turkey could not hold their advantage this time, allowing two unanswered goals late in the game. This day smiled on Jeremy Ferre, who continues to hope for the final victory, which he will achieve if England becomes the champion, the only negative scenario for Pedro Matos!

Os oitavos-de-final tiveram de tudo, desde jogos emotivos até final, vitórias claras e justas e jogos enfadonhos e sem muita história. Comecou da melhor forma com um Suica-Itália em que a vitória nao deixou margens para dúvidas e deixou a campea em título por terra, quando 75 de vós tinham a Itália a chegar pelo menos aos quartos-de-final. No outro jogo a Dinamarca bateu-se bem e ainda assustou, mas o favoritismo prevaleceu e a equipa da casa marcou presenca na próxima fase. O dia seguinte abriu com uma quase surpresa, só retirada por Bellingham num belo golo nos descontos a forcar o prologamento da Inglaterra face à Eslováquia. Kane fez 105 de vós respirar de alívio (o número de passagens aos quartos) e outros tantos que apostaram na vitória inglesa no Euro. Na outra partida a Espanha ainda apanhou um susto mas sem grande dificuldade acabou por vergar uma brava Geórgia que já muito logrou em passar os grupos. O dia mais enfadonho de todos chegou no 1 de Julho com a Franca a eliminar a Bélgica através de um auto-golo e Portugal a eliminar a Eslovénia apenas nos pénaltis, valendo Diogo Costa tanto no prolongamento como nas decisoes finais. Por fim, o último dia levou os Países Baixos à próxima fase numa partida fácil em que vergaram de forma esperada a Roménia. O melhor jogo desta fase estava guardado para o fim, com Áustria e Turquia a proporcionarem uma excelente partida, sendo que a felicidade sorriu aos turcos e muito por culpa da inefácia austríaca e de uma super defesa de Gunok no último lance do jogo.

The round of 16 had it all, from emotional games to clear and fair victories, and boring matches with little to no story. It started in the best way with a Switzerland-Italy match where the victory left no room for doubt and knocked out the defending champion, as 75 of you had Italy reaching at least the quarter-finals. In the other match, Denmark put up a good fight and even scared their opponents, but the favoritism prevailed, and the home team secured their spot in the next phase. The following day began with an almost surprise, only taken away by a beautiful goal from Bellingham in injury time to force extra time for England against Slovakia. Kane made 105 of you breathe a sigh of relief (the number of you predicting England to advance to the quarters) and many others who bet on an English victory in the Euro. In the other match, Spain was given a scare but ultimately had no difficulty in overcoming a brave Georgia, which had already achieved a lot by advancing from the group stage. The dullest day of all arrived on July 1st with France eliminating Belgium through an own goal and Portugal eliminating Slovenia only on penalties, thanks to Diogo Costa both in extra time and in the final decisions. Entrevista com o novo líder/Interview with the new leader - José Monteiro

Hoje deixo-vos uma pequena entrevista com o novo líder, após os pontos da qualificacao para os oitavos. De seu nome José Monteiro, um negativista de gema mas apenas no que toca à sua capacidade de Bitaites. 

Reporter: Assumiste a liderança quando mais interessa. Estás pronto para a segurar até ao fim ou sentes que a competição é forte?

José: A competição está fortíssima e a qualquer momento pode aparecer um Ferrari vermelho a ultrapassar-me pela direita. Os minutos finais dos jogos penalizaram-me muito na fase de grupos, pelo que espero que os Kelvin’s desta vida descansem nos playoffs para que eu possa segurar a liderança.

R: No início revelaste muita falta de confiança, nem querias revelar a tua verdadeira identidade. Sentes que mereces a liderança ou com tanta negatividade devias ser punido por isso?

J: A humildade é uma característica pessoal minha e nesta fase, continuo a pensar jogo a jogo como de início. Os meus amigos já preparam e festejam os eventuais copos que posso ter que vir a pagar em caso de glória, mas eu não me deixo levar em euforias.

R: Quem para ti te desiludiu mais até então é que seleção te surpreendeu mais?

J: A Inglaterra tem sido uma desilusão mas acredito que seja um Portugal do Euro 2016, com exceção da vitória na final (essa vai cair para a Alemanha). A qualificação da Geórgia foi surpreendente, especialmente depois de ter chegado à 3ª ronda com um ponto. Mas o facto de tanto eu como o António Silva, acreditarmos cegamente que a qualificação Georgiana ainda era possível, permitiu-me pontuar quando muitos já não acreditavam. Obrigado Tó, tenho a certeza que melhores dias virão em 24/25.

R: ⁠Tens Alemanha como vencedora na final contra Inglaterra. Mudavas alguma coisa ou confias no teu Bitaite?

J: Neste momento, continuo a ver a Alemanha como grande favorita a ganhar o Euro. No e-mail em que partilhei o meu Bitaite, escrevi “Segue em anexo o bitaite vencedor deste Euro 2024”. Nesta fase, ainda não vejo necessidade de ajustes.

Today, I bring you a short interview with the new leader, after the points from the qualification for the round of 16. His name is José Monteiro, a born pessimist but only when it comes to his ability to make predictions.

Reporter: You assumed leadership when it matters most. Are you ready to hold on to it until the end, or do you feel the competition is strong?

José: The competition is very strong, and at any moment, a red Ferrari could overtake me through the right. The final minutes of the games penalized me a lot in the group stage, so I hope that the Kelvin's of this world will rest during the playoffs so I can hold on to the lead.

R: At the beginning, you showed a lot of lack of confidence, you didn't even want to reveal your true identity. Do you feel you deserve the leadership, or with so much negativity, do you think you should be punished for it?

J: Humbleness is a personal characteristic of mine, and at this stage, I continue to take it game by game as I did from the beginning. My friends are already preparing and celebrating the potential drinks I might have to buy in case of glory, but I don't let myself get carried away with euphoria.

R: Who has disappointed you the most so far, and which team has surprised you the most?

J: England has been a disappointment, but I believe they could be like Portugal in Euro 2016, except for the victory in the final (that will go to Germany). Georgia's qualification was surprising, especially after reaching the 3rd round with one point. But the fact that both António Silva and I blindly believed that Georgian qualification was still possible allowed me to score points when many no longer believed. Thank you, Tó, I am sure better days will come in 24/25.

R: You have Germany as the winner in the final against England. Would you change anything or do you trust your prediction?

J: At this moment, I still see Germany as the favorite to win the Euro. In the email where I shared my prediction, I wrote, "Attached is the winning prediction for Euro 2024." At this stage, I don't see any need for adjustments yet.

O dia comecou com um grupo E tudo empatado em pontos que acabou exatamente da mesma forma. Empate a 1 uma bola entre Eslováquia e Roménia e a zeros entre Bélgica e Ucrania, valendo o primeiro lugar aos romenos e o quarto aos ucranianos que apesar de fazerem 4 pontos ficaram automaticamente eliminados devido à diferenca de golos. Apenas um bitaiteiro adivinhou a Roménia em 1 lugar e igualmente a classificacao do grupo na ordem correta, sendo que o destaque vai para Miguel Anjos por ter logrado tal feito.

No outro grupo, emocao até ao fim, principalmente no República Checa-Turquia. Os checos precisavam de uma vitória para eliminar os turcos, enquanto a Geórgia ia causando surpresa a ganhar a Portugal. Pedro Ferro acabou por sorrir ao ser o único a adivinhar a vitória georgiana mas quem sorriu ainda mais foi José Salvado. O golo turco aos 90+4 desempatou o primeiro lugar da fase de grupos com Mario Miranda e deu-lhe o primeiro lugar isolado. The day started with a group where everything was tied in points and ended exactly the same way. A 1-1 draw between Slovakia and Romania and a 0-0 draw between Belgium and Ukraine resulted in the Romanians securing first place and the Ukrainians ending in fourth place. Despite earning 4 points, Ukraine was automatically eliminated due to goal difference. Only one predictor guessed Romania in first place and the group standings in the correct order. Special recognition goes to Miguel Anjos for achieving this feat.

In the other group, there was excitement until the end, especially in the Czech Republic-Turkey match. The Czechs needed a win to eliminate the Turks, while Georgia was surprising everyone by beating Portugal. Pedro Ferro ended up smiling as he was the only one to predict the Georgian victory, but José Salvado smiled even more. A Turkish goal in the 90+4th minute broke the tie for first place in the group stage with Mario Miranda and gave him the top spot. Only 12 predicted the correct order of the group, but just 6 of those predicted that Georgia would advance to the next stage!
